Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Lost love When I woke up, I was back at home. “W-what happened?” I said, aloud. “Someone found you in the woods. They said you fell and broke your arm…” My mom said, scrambling for the words. I looked down at my arm that was in a cast. “I guess I fell off of a low branch in that tree. But it’s nothing to worry about. I feel no pain!” I said as I tried to raise my arm above my head. The pain I had felt with Buffy and Moon shot through my arm again. “Owwwwwiiiiiieeeee!” I screamed. I fell backwards, onto the pillows, and closed my eyes, trying to keep from crying. I knew that Twilight dying wasn’t my fault. Though I thought it was, I knew it wasn’t. If my older sister would have been here, she would have told me it was all me fault. Every bit of it. I couldn’t stop thinking that it was my fault that she died. Then a memory popped into my head. It was a hazy memory even though it happened either earlier today, or earlier this week, depending on how long I had been asleep. Twilight and Moon looked alike. Then the memory faded, just as fast as it popped into my head. I sat up again, recovered from the pain, and hoped that they would tell me that this was all a joke. ‘It has to be a joke. I saw Twilight in that cave. If she really did die, then am I just going crazy? Should I tell my mom about what I saw and heard? What I felt in that cave? Would she think I was crazy?’ I didn’t want to tell her, but I figured it was the only way to find out the truth. The truth about my aunt, who died when I was born. The truth about why we were moving. “Mommy, I have something to tell you…” I said, looking up at my mother. “And what is that?” She asked. “Mommy, I didn’t fall out of the tree. I ran and tripped, I broke my arm in the fall, but I kept running. I saw Twilight. In the woods. I jumped the river and ran after her. I came to a cave and went in. I felt someone watching and following me. I met this woman, her name was Buffy. She said that she was my aunt. The one you said died when I was born. I also saw this girl. She looked and talked like Twilight, but Buffy and herself called her Moon. Mommy, did you lie to me? About Twilight and my aunt, who are supposed to be dead?” I said. My mom looked at me like I was crazy, then a look of sadness crossed her face. I knew that she thought I was crazy. “Hun, Moon…. Isn’t Twilight… And this Buffy you speak of, is not your aunt.” My mom said, looking at me in anger, “Who filled your head with this non-sense??” She raised her voice slightly. “No one! it’s the truth!!!” I yelled. I got up and ran out of the room, and grabbed my backpack off the table and ran out the front door.
